Our first permanent hunting blind
(which was intended for the 2016-2017 deer season)
we were hoping to complete for the 2017-2018 season.

CONTINUING EVOLUTION of a
PERMANENT WOODEN DEER HUNTING BLIND!
(the inside dimensions will be 8'-by-8' at the base with 8' high at the highest point)
For real... Two guys will be able to comfortably hunt in this blind.

This is the blind as of August 5, 2017:

...and this was the blind as of March 11, 2017

We will be using natural cover with nearby trees
which overlook a sloped meadow into a pine grove.

The stairs may be completely re-done, as Tim found something better to try.

We also enlisted an expert carpenter to help us
reinforce the structure and frame the door and windows.

Much later on, it will be painted with various camouflage splotches.

Our blind is loosely modeled on one that is on
Tim's brother's land near the Georgia border:

Blind is 4'-by-8' at base; highest point inside 5'

10:42 a.m. CST March 12, 2016
It is painted neutral grey and has a fold-down window

Resumption of work on the
permanent blind since October 2016:

Robert got to meet Tim for the first time.
He brought his excellent carpentry skills to benefit our blind.
One thing about being a photographer–I rarely get into the photos!
Anyway, Tim and I are greatly obliged to Robert for helping us.

Because Tim got a generator, we were able to use power tools on site.
It is nice and time saving not having to take every board back to the house!

AUGUST 5, 2017

Tim and I went to the land to sight in our rifles and set up our crossbows.
(Though, my Grendel rifle had trouble, delaying crossbow work, yet again.)
Nonetheless...
We did get measurements of the blind's windows for future plexiglass.

We continued work on Saturday, September 30, 2017:
August 26 was instead used to put out corn and check the trail cameras.
Instead of doing the windows, we continued work on the soffits.

We continued work on Sunday, November 12, 2017:
We nearly completed work on the soffits and got all side and back windows done.
The morning was spent at Lowes in Newnan, Georgia getting plexiglass cut.
Home Depot has not done cutting of plexiglass since 2003!
It was a little cold most of the day, but we did well;
Tim and I both got windburned from being out all day.

Robert was committed and sacrificed a day of hunting to help us.

Tim and I are VERY GRATEFUL to Robert for his dedication to getting this work done!

Next possible date to continue work is beginning in December...
(or maybe even February of 2018)

We hope to get plexiglass and frames for the front windows instead of using the pull-down shutters.
Tim and I still need to paint the outside and we still need to complete the last bit of soffit on the front.
Insulation for the walls will have to wait as well as any protective flooring.

Note:  We were not able to continue work until August 11, 2018
